You Tell You

We used a website called You Tell You. It is like an online magazine or newspaper. People can sign up and write articles about what ever they want. Most of the articles include lots of pictures. It is very easy to use. I wrote an article about a trip I took a few years ago to France and Switzerland. Here is the link to My You Tell You article.

Dipity

We made timelines on dipity about a person or organization. I did mine on Madeleine L'Engle, the author of A Wrinkle in Time, and one of my favorite authors from when I was little. I chose to do this about an author because I love to read.

Happy Birthday!

This weekend is going to be busy. I have relatives coming today and leaving Sunday. On Sunday we are going up to my grandparents house to celebrate some birthdays in the family, my dad's, my grandpa's, and my cousin's wife's. It is also my grandpa's twin sister's birthday, but she lives on the east coast; so, she can't make it. October is a big month for birthdays in my family. So, happy birthday to them, especially my grandpa and great-aunt, who are turning 80! Hopefully I have time to fit in homework this weekend!

Juxio

One of the first web 2.0 tools we used was Juxio. It allows you to make a type of powerpoint online. You can upload photos and add captions. We used Juxio to make Powerpoints about our passions. Mine had a variety of things on it including traveling, history, reading, and music. We Skyped with one of the creators of the website. His name was Will. He then posted on a blog about how we used Juxio.

Meeting New People

We have met a lot of people during this journey. One of the first was Tom Whitby. He is and English teacher in New York. He has a great understanding of tools to help grow your PLN and how to use them. Have also met Will who is one of the creators of Juxio. I talked about that before. Maggie form Diigo also talked to us. Diigo is something that lets you highlight and put notes about different things you find on the internet. Kimmie from Symbaloo also talked to us. Symbaloo is a website that lets you create tiles that link you to a website. Another thing we are doing is talking having this class with another group of students in Philadelphia. Using the internet lets you connect with people all over the world in a second. It makes it easier to find people with you same interests and people who can help you.

My PLN Journey

So... I started this blog for my Web 2.0 and PLN class at school. We are learning to use Web 2.0 tools to broaden our PLN. PLN stands for Personal Learning Network which includes people we learn from and stuff like that. So far we have learned to use several new tools and met some new people. This class will help us expand the number of people who will be able to help us and teach us new things. Which I think would be really helpful to anyone. I am expecting this class to be very interesting. I hope I learn a lot by the end of the year and that my PLN has grown exponentially.
